Conformation Showing is the most common activity that ANKC breeders participate in. Dogs on main register with the ANKC compete against each other at breed level and are judged against a breed standard. Qualified judges rate dogs against their breed standard and place and award them on how well they conform to the breed standard.
Points are awarded to each breed's best male and female, who then compete against each other for Best of Breed. Best of Breed winners then compete in their own group (ie. Gundogs, Working Dogs) for Best in Group.
There are 7 Groups within the All Breeds Show and the winner of each group competes for the coveted Best in Show.
To participate in conformation shows, you must have an ANKC main registered dog. If the dog is neutered, it imay compete in the Neuter classes and earn a Neuter Championship.
