Scent Work is a fun new sport that is similar to detection dog work. Scent work involves working as a team with your dog to source odour. It relies on you being able to read your dogs changes in behaviour when on odour and their ability to convey an alert to you. Scent work is such a positive sport that allows dogs to use their abilities and helps build confidence and strengthen relationships between you and your dog.
ANKC Scent work encompasses 4 elements - Containers, Interiors, Exteriors and Vehicles over a range of difficulty levels (Novice, Advanced, Excellent and Masters) with added distractors of both non-food and food being added in the higher levels. Dogs are trained to recognise 4 specific odours (Birch, Anise, Clove and Cypress).
Dawnus is proud of be a founding member of the Western Sydney Scent Work Club - NSW's first official scent work club! Dawnus has dogs competing at all levels from Novice through to Masters currently with other bred by dogs competing all over the country in this fun sport.
